Research:
I have conducted fieldwork in the People’s Republic of China and in Chinese American communities. Theoretical interests include civil society (democracy, literati), anthropological linguistics (narrative, theories of literacy and literature, media), and ethnographic methods (participant observation, oral history, text work).
