MA Applied Anthropology Summer Institute

2018 Summer Institute Dates: July 9-August 1 (online), August 2-11 (on-campus)

The MA program begins with a 5-unit Summer Institute, which begins with online materials available in July and concludes with 10 days on the HSU campus in late July to early August. During this time, students build camaraderie, receive introductory methods training, and are introduced to the many facets of the discipline and program. The Summer Institute curriculum serves to facilitate communication among colleagues as well as increase marketable skills. The Summer Institute is the jump start and gateway to the rest of the program.

After the Summer Institute, students undertake 30 units of additional coursework over three full-time or six part-time semesters. Students who would like to be on campus after the Summer Institute are welcomed and will have access to departmental facilities – many of our students choose to remain on campus to take courses, be involved in labs, and form study groups.

*Students currently enrolled in the Summer Institute should refer to the Summer 2018 Schedule for more information.
